Corazones Libres is dedicated to giving every child in the Dominican Republic the chance to learn, grow, and dream beyond the limits of poverty. With 22.8% of the population living below the poverty line and nearly 3% in extreme poverty, many children face barriers that keep them out of school or unable to focus in class.
By combining daily nutrition support with academic tutoring and family coaching, we create spaces where learning can flourish. Together with local educators and volunteers, we’re helping children stay in school, build confidence, and unlock the opportunities every child deserves.

Food Insecurity in Our Communities
Across the Dominican Republic, 14% of the population faces food insecurity, and one in three households lacks access to a nutritious diet. These conditions place families under daily stress and limit their ability to meet basic needs, especially in low-income regions where stable employment and food access remain inconsistent.
The Impact on Children
For children, the effects of hunger extend far beyond the dinner table. Many attend school on an empty stomach or drop out entirely to help their families earn income. Nearly 28% of children under age five suffer from anemia, and 6.3% of Dominicans are undernourished, leading to long-term challenges in learning, focus, and overall development.
