Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower the next generation of Dominican children through education that nourishes both the mind and body. While food insecurity affects nearly 14% of the population and one in three households lacks access to a nutritious diet, the greater cost is the loss of learning potential. Malnutrition and limited educational resources trap children in cycles of poverty that we are determined to end.

Through our Learning Bridges and Nourished Together programs, we provide academic tutoring, emotional support, and healthy meals that enable children to focus, learn, and dream beyond their circumstances. Led by a team of Dominicans who understand these challenges firsthand, we work within communities to make education accessible, engaging, and life-changing.

We believe that by feeding minds as well as bodies, we can transform hunger into knowledge, and knowledge into opportunity, for every child, and for the future of the Dominican Republic.

Why It Matters

In many parts of the Dominican Republic, children’s potential is limited not only by hunger but by the lack of access to quality education and academic support. When classrooms are under-resourced and families struggle to meet their basic needs, learning becomes a luxury rather than a pathway forward.

Corazones Libres exists to change that reality from the ground up. Through after-school tutoring, emotional guidance, and family partnerships, we help students build the skills and confidence to stay in school and succeed. By investing in education alongside nutrition, we are nurturing a generation of thinkers, leaders, and changemakers who can lift their communities toward lasting progress.

Our Future Plans

At Corazones Libres, we are committed to expanding our impact and deepening our support for vulnerable communities both at home and abroad. Looking ahead, our initiatives will focus on:

• Empowering Survivors of Domestic Abuse: Initiating a program to serve victims in both the Dominican Republic and the United States, ensuring access to the resources and the guidance they need to rebuild their lives.
• Expanding Educational and Nutrition Programs: Scaling our educational and meal-kit initiatives to reach more schools and communities nationwide, providing students with the tools and nourishment essential for academic success and overall well-being.
• Building Corporate Partnerships for Mentorship: Strengthening collaborations with Dominican-based corporations to bring industry professionals into classrooms, offering mentorship and career insight that inspire and prepare our scholars for the future.
• Creating Pathways to Employment: Developing internship and job placement opportunities through our corporate partners, enabling our scholars to transition from education to meaningful employment with confidence and purpose.
