Our Programs:
Empowering Change Through Action
At Corazones Libres, we believe that lasting change begins with nourishment and knowledge. Our programs are designed to address the root causes of poverty while nurturing hope, confidence, and opportunity for every child and family we serve.
Our two core initiatives, Nourished Together (Nutridos Juntos) and Learning Bridges (Puentes de Aprendizaje), work hand-in-hand to support vulnerable communities through nutrition, education, and empowerment.

Learning Bridges (Puentes de Aprendizaje)
The Learning Bridges educational program offers weekly after-school tutoring focused on literacy, numeracy, and study skills, designed to directly support academically struggling students.
Students participate in academic tutoring three times a week and attend workshops or interactive activities on the other two days to strengthen social and emotional well-being. The program also incorporates socioemotional check-ins and family coaching based on CASEL best practices, promoting self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
A licensed psychologist conducts follow-up sessions and assessments with both children and their families to monitor progress and ensure holistic development. Monthly reviews of students’ academic performance allow for timely interventions and personalized support.
Families experiencing food insecurity are given priority access to the Nourished Together program, ensuring that each child receives both the educational and nutritional support necessary to thrive.
Transforming Lives Through Collective Action
Join us in uplifting children through food assistance and educational support in the Dominican Republic. Your help matters!

Nourished Together (Nutridos Juntos)
The program model involves the monthly distribution of culturally appropriate and nutritious food packages, carefully designed by local dietitians to enhance child health and improve readiness for learning.
To ensure community integration and sustainability, Corazones Libres partners with a local church in Sector Hato Nuevo de Manoguayabo to distribute food, leveraging the church’s trusted presence in the community. Additionally, the program supports local agriculture by partnering with local farmers, fostering economic development alongside nutrition.
Counterfactual evidence from similar low-resource school settings suggests that targeted family food support can increase school attendance by up to 17%, demonstrating the potential impact of this approach, as observed in World Food Programme peer projects.
Home delivery is provided for families with mobility challenges or higher risks, while others receive their food through community-based distribution points. What sets this program apart from standard food pantries is its integration with academic interventions, ensuring every enrolled family benefits both nutritionally and educationally.
